GROUP HISTORY

The group Suden Aika was founded in 1996. On the solo album by Tellu, called Suden Aika, the other singers were Liisa Matveinen, Sanna Kurki-Suonio and Pia Rask.

The quartet performed under varying compositions until 1998. Then, in the autumn of 2002, Liisa Matveinen and Tellu Turkka decided to reassemble the group again and Katariina Airas was asked to join in. In the autumn of 2003, Nora Vaura was engaged as the fourth singer.

In January 2004, the quartet travelled to Ilomantsi in the Eastern Finland, to Sissola in the village of  Mekrijärvi. In the house of the famous old Finnish oral poetry singer Simana Sissonen, they recorded their album Etsijä (“The Seeker”). In Finland the record came out in September 2004, in Germany it was released already in the summer of 2004. Suden aika has made several concert tours in Germany as well as singular concerts in Austria and Holland.

In 2006 the group had several concerts again in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Denmark. Their new album Unta (“Dream”) was recorded in Porvoo and Jämsä in Finland during March-April 2006 and was released in Germany in the summer 2006 and 30.8.2006 also in Finland.

In 2007 Suden aika toured several times again in Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland. They also had concerts in Moscow and the Czech Republic.

In 2008 Tellu Turkka left the group and was replaced by Veera Voima.
